Glenfinnan

Glenfinnan is situated at the tip of Loch Shiel on the west coast of Scotland. It holds Glenfinnan Viaduct, one of the most well-known sights in Scotland. An impressive railway bridge 100ft above the ground, the viaduct allows trains (most notably the Jacobite steam train) to cross the glen on the journey between Fort William and the port village of Mallaig. It became an incredibly popular tourist attraction after appearing in the Harry Potter films as part of the route taken by the Hogwarts Express. The viaduct is a great subject to photograph, it is often captured from the hillside near the viaduct which can get very busy when the steam train comes. If you have time, hiking up further into the glens and getting a higher viewpoint is also worthwhile as you will likely be able to get a more unique shot and it can allow you to include Loch Shiel in the background. On the edge of the loch is Glenfinnan Monument which commemorates the Jacobite clansmen whose lives were lost supporting Charles Edward Stuart. You can find out more here.
