A short drive away from Edzell a popular hiking path known as the Blue Door walk can be found. The walk leads some way along the edge of the river North Esk and the surrounding woodlands. There are a series of interesting points on the walk - the first of which being the bridge over the river. Small paths can also be found along the way, leading down to the rocky river's edge - spots often used as for fishing. The trail begins to undulate the further you go, and the largely gentle river appears to have more and more rapids. The river carves some interesting channels through the rocks, creating opportunities for some more intimate/abstract photography. There aren't any major attractions along the walk, but you can find some interesting compositions at various points throughout. The conditions and time of year can also make a big difference - I would generally recommend visiting during summer or autumn because the lack of greenery and colour in the cold months can make shots feel a bit lifeless.
